Classroom Learning Centers...
Centros Que aprenden De la Sala de clase...

We use a variety of learning centers in our classroom! I choose to incorporate centers into my classroom instructional time, because it is a time where children get a more hands on approach to their learning and a time that I provide individualized instruction to small groups of students. Our centers are a structured learning time! While students are at assigned centers, I work with small groups of students to provide guided reading and writing. Centers have been a successful learning time for me in our classroom. Students travel to two centers a day in a block of 40 minutes.

This is the Reading Area in our classroom! Students get to cuddle up
with a good book or with our Reading Wheels!   I also hang our Shared
Writing in the reading area so students can track and read simple sight
word sentences! I bought PVC pipe and made my own whisper phones for
less than $2.00 a phone! My students LOVE whisper reading!

This is our Word Work area. Students come to this Center during the
learning day to work with words in a variety of different ways!

This is our Listening area. Students get a walkman and a book on tape and
climb into the Listening Tent (I got my tent at Wal-Mart for $19.99-the sides are see
through so you can see your students inside the tent!) After students listen to a story
on tape they get a clipboard and a response log. Students illustrate their favorite part
of the story they listened to on their response log paper. The students really
 enjoy coming to this center!

This is our Math area! Students measure, count, number write, experiment,
pattern, sort, and explore at this center!

This is our Writing Area! Students come to the Writing Area to work
on word writing and sentence writing! A variety of materials are housed in
this area for student creativity!

This is our Home Living Center. Students create menus and labels for their
home. I store dress up clothes, food, dolls, paper, crayons, markers, and
real food labels in this center! Our popcorn sight words also brim the wall!

This is our ABC Center! Students rhyme and sort pictures name cards
into categories based on what special letters are in each name. This
center reinforces alphabet letters and sounds on a daily basis!  I took a
Candyland game and wrote letters on each color. When a student picks a card
and moves that many spaces...they have to say the letter and sound to stay on
that spot! My students LOVE this educational game!
